Historical Calendar - December 16th
- 1977 - As part of its Charter for Human Rights, Quebec, Canada passes a gay civil rights law. The law makes discrimination against gays in housing, public accommodation, and employment illegal throughout the province.
- 1983 - To Be or Not To Be, a film by Mel Brooks, premieres, and is the first mainstream film to acknowledge Nazi persecution of gays and lesbians.
