I met my first out Lesbian when I was in my early 20's. Her name is Rita, and over 20 years later, I still go all warm and mushy when I think of her. The way Rita made me feel was the clincher for me. I knew then that I too was a girl who preferred women, but I was already engaged to be married, and Rita was on the guest list.
That marriage lasted about 2 years and I went from it right into another straight relationship, getting married 3 days after the first divorce was final. Now 16 years later, I have 2 kids and husband.
My mid-thirties found me again falling in love with my best girl friend. We did the "bar scene" thing - she because she was curious, me because the energy was so right. Lovers we did not become.
Then I met M. Against the advice of her friends, we had an affair which lasted 2 years. It finally ended when the friends won, and I lost her to another.
I bounced back and I courted D. D had not yet "come out", even to herself, but I knew in my heart she was the one for me. Our relationship is over 2 years old and we have managed to keep it a total secret from everyone.

Even though I had had feelings for women since age 11, it wasn't until my 30's I was forced to come out by my current lover. I am a single mom of 1. I am still not comfortable coming out to the world. My affair with Diane is perfect, because it cannot be broadcast. We are just friends who like to hang out together.
