History

And the Band Played on: Politics, People, and the AIDS Epidemic
by Randy Shilts
A remarkable look at the "discovery" of AIDS and HIV and the subsequent events. What we did to ourselves is only surpassed by what the government and health institutions did to the world. If you enjoyed the HBO Movie "And the Band Plays On" you must read this work to get the rest of the story.

The Front Runner (Fiction)
by Patricia Nell Warren
It's difficult to categorize this anthem-like novel. If you haven't read it, read it. If you've read it, read it again. Lend it to everybody you know straight or gay. They'll laugh. They'll cry. They'll begin to understand what it's all about.

When you read this work, you'll feel that the participants are talking to you. Serving in Silence

Right to Marry

The Case for Same-Sex Marriage: From Sexual Liberty to Civilized Commitment
by William N. Eskridge, Jr.
As pointed out by the author, the question of gay marriage cuts two ways--at the heart of gay assimilation, and at the core definition of marriage and the family.

Legally Wed: Same-Sex Marriage and the Constitution
by Mark Strasser
The author argues that the Defense of Marriage Act is unconstitutional, a premise with which I agree.
