Coming Out Stories Gallery - Shirley
I first started noticing that I was different than most girls around fourth or fifth grade; however I dated guys all through high school. I always had this thing about certain girls but never really figured it out until I was about 19 years old. I grew up being the tomboy and having mostly guy friends; which is weird because now I've totally changed and prefer to spend time with my girl friends. I had a boyfriend for four years when I was 16 until 20. He was the greatest guy in the world, but I just didn't like being with him; I just couldn't figure out why he couldn't make me happy when he gave me everything I ever wanted. We eventually broke up and are still good friends till this day. The day I met Missy I knew now what it was, I like girls not guys. We became very close friends during college and during a long heart to heart talk one night we both realized that we felt the same way about each other. We have now been together for 3 years and it has been the!
happiest years of my life; there's nothing more exciting than when I realized I was a lesbian and someone else felt the same way as I did. Our friends eventually found out, either we'd tell them or they'd ask and they are all cool with it. We've recently moved to a new city and met new friends and I don't try to hide the fact that I'm a lesbian one bit.
