Scenes from a Scrapbook

Some moments to share with you of events in recent months leading up to the release of "Hot Paint"

Bob posed with the cast of "Mama's Dying," his play-in-progress, following a staged reading by the First Stage Theater Group in Hollywood. It was a first-time experience and the applause is still ringing in his ears.
The Southern California chapter of Mystery Writers of America, which Bob is serving as president this year, presented its annual Marlowe Award to a chapter member, for lifetime career achievement, to Dennis Lynds (aka "Michael Collins" and a bunch of other names). Among the participants, from left (seated) Gayle Lynds and hubby Dennis; (standing) author-critic Tom Nolan, Bob, Charles Champlin (an MWA Raven Award honoree this year), MWA National President William Link, author-critic Dick Lochte.
The January meeting MWA-SoCal meeting kicking off Bob's presidency featured presentation of a Distinguished Service award to Jan Burke, as well as a presentation by Los Angeles Times Book Review editor Steve Wasserman and the section's regular mystery reviewer, Dr. Eugen Weber. From left: Dr. Weber, Jan, Dick Lochte, Steve, Bill Link.
Two very special MWA-SoCal chapter member who participated with Bob at a recent special event at the Brentano's Beverly Center outlet in Los Angeles: Jo Hammett (right), Dashiell H's daughter, and Julie Rivett, Dash's granddaughter. (They'll be talking about him and other family matters at the chapter meeting Bob has scheduled for October.)
